Tim Heidecker & his ten-piece band poster sacramento 2016
A modern homage to Laurel Canyon and 70’s airbrush album art:
Sacramento was hugely fortunate to score a date for Tim Heidecker and His Ten Piece Band’s show in May of 2016. When I took on this project, I knew I wanted to avoid a lot of the visual Adult Swim cliches, and when I heard the band’s record In Glendale, I realized that wouldn’t even be an issue. Heidecker’s record leans on a lot of 70s Laurel Canyon AM radio pop sounds (no really) so that was the starting point for my inspiration.
The Concept
Ultimately, this is an homage to both ELP’s Tarkus cover and the sleeve for The Grateful Dead’s 1972 live album. I think I found the sweetspot between 70s sunny airbrush art, and Heidecker’s natural arch weirdness.
