With my screenprinted Future Islands poster for their August 2014 show, I focused on a fresh color scheme and custom designed type, creating the band’s name from line and shape for their appearance at Harlow’s in Sacramento. I wanted something futuristic with a little soul and a little modern shape and bolt to it. The arm in the lower left helps to ground and humanize the composition a bit and helps to evoke a little of frontman Samuel Herring’s charismatic showmanship.
It’s printed on 18″x24″ French Cement Green construction paper and features an incredibly smooth halftone gradient blending the blue into the pink. It’s available now in a signed, limited edition of 50 prints total.
