Who is

JASON

MALMBERG ?

I’m Jason Malmberg, an art and creative director based in Sacramento, California, and the designer behind Decabet, my long-running gig poster and music design studio. I started Decabet in 2004, and since then I’ve been fortunate to design all kinds of things — apps, games, books, magazines, websites, and much more.

When I create gig posters or anything tied to music, I do it under the name Decabet (pronounced deh-kuh-bet). For more than twenty years I’ve designed concert posters, record covers, and festival branding, along with countless flyers and collectible prints.

My work blends collage, photography, and illustration, all driven by a love of color and typography. You can see a wide selection throughout this site. Over the years I’ve designed posters for artists including Kings of Leon (five posters), Foo Fighters (four), Metallica (two), and even “Weird Al” Yankovic — a lucky run across a variety of genres and projects.

Where possible, I’ve written case studies to share the thinking behind each piece — what I aimed for, how it evolved, and whether it hit the mark. Feel free to reach out with any questions about process or technique, or if you have a project that could use a little Decabet energy. Let’s make something rad. Cheers.

If you googled me looking for my portfolio of branding, web, and publication design work, you’ll wanna head over to my other site.
